(Hereinafter: «We») is, as the operator of this website, the data controller for the personal data of the website’s users (hereinafter: «You») within the meaning of the DSG.

What personal data do we collect?

In addition to the information you provide to us yourself (through what you tell us, give us and do whilst using our services), we may also obtain information about you from third parties, namely:

- Your name, the area where you are serving, and the nature of your request (thanks / a favour), along with any related information, as communicated to us by friends or third parties who are concerned about you, and which we have accordingly included in our prayer and donor lists and newsletters
- Your bank details, if you would like us to transfer any donations
- Visual material (photographs/videos) that we receive from a photographer at a corporate or church event, or from any other third party.
- Your social media and online activities
- Publications in which you are mentioned

Is personal data transferred abroad?

Yes, that is possible – to the EEA, but also to any country in the world. If the country in question does not have adequate data protection, we will, in particular, enter into the EU Standard Contractual Clauses; however, on a case-by-case basis, we may also rely on consent or transfer data abroad because it is necessary for the performance of a contract with you or in your interests (e.g. collecting donations or offering prayers for you abroad).

Why do we collect personal data?

We do this for the following purposes (in addition to those we inform you of separately):

- Communication with you
- Prayers (newsletters, prayer lists)
- Marketing (fundraising, print media, newsletters, leaflets)
- Newsletter
- Acknowledgements for your work / assistance
- Entering into and processing contracts with you, including job applications
- Operation of the infrastructure and website
- Market analyses (in the area of core activities: pioneering work, church planting, church support, social and diaconal work, training, discipleship, humanitarian work/emergency aid/development cooperation; in the area of personnel: short-term vs. long-term volunteers; donations; legal status)
- Training, further education
- Compliance with legal obligations

To whom do we disclose personal data?

- Business partners (organisations, churches and other individuals in Germany and abroad with whom we collaborate)
- Service providers (e.g. IT and cloud providers, banks, insurance companies, transport and delivery firms)
- Distribution of prayer/donor lists
- Public authorities (in particular where we are required to do so)
- Third parties that collect data about you via the website or are able to access it. These include Google Web Fonts, Google Maps, reCAPTCHA, YouTube and Akismet

Your rights?

You have the right, in principle, to request information about your personal data that we process. In particular, you may

- Information about personal data as such,
- The purpose of the processing,
- the retention period or, if this is not possible, the criteria for determining that period,
- the source of your data, where it was not collected from you,
- where applicable, whether an automated individual decision has been made,
- where applicable, the recipients or categories of recipients to whom their personal data will be disclosed,

Furthermore, you generally have the right

- To withdraw any consent you may have given to the use of your personal data
- to have your personal data held by us corrected
- to have your personal data stored by us deleted, or otherwise to object to our processing of it

Depending on the circumstances, we may or must restrict these rights as provided for by law, for example to protect third parties or where we are legally obliged to retain the data (for donor data, the retention period is usually 10 years).
